Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) promotes the body’s own natural production of collagen. The process has the ability to smooth out scars, diminish wrinkles and can soften the uneven discolorations on the skin. It is also very effective as an acne scar treatment. The therapy is classified as a minimally invasive technique that is long lasting and all natural in its ability to rejuvenate the skin.

Collagen Induction Therapy can be utilized on sensitive areas such the back of hands, upper neck, lower eyelids and canthus. Additionally, you can have ongoing repetitive treatments allowing for your epidermis to constantly be regenerating and thickening. Best of all Collagen Induction Therapy or Micro-needling is an all-natural procedure with minimal contraindications because there are no injections, allergic reactions or side effects. This is a minimally invasive procedure with little downtime and simplified after care. The protocol has a wide range of uses for almost everyone.

Micro-needling creates tiny channels in the skin allowing for better penetration of growth factors applied topically. The channels close naturally and the growth factors stimulate healing. Micro-needling has shown efficacy in various skin treatments including a specially designed acne scar treatment which can dramatically reduce the appearance of acne scars. Treating sun damaged skin or aging skin results in visibly tightened appearance with improved texture, tone and a clear reduction in pore size, fine lines and wrinkles. The DermaPen reaches difficult to reach areas around the lips, nose and eyes with more accuracy and efficacy than a dermal roller.

Effective for:

  • Surgical scars
  • Acne Scar Treatment
  • Stretch marks
  • Hypo-pigmented lesions
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Sun Damage

Collagen Induction Therapy works in conjunction with the active topical serums. These products are formulated with nanotechnology for deep penetration and have high concentrations of active ingredients for optimal results.

How is the procedure performed?

1. The skin is cleansed and eventually numbed through an appropriate numbing cream. Should the procedure cover any sensitive areas, local anesthetics may be required.

2. The therapy would be performed using the either the DermaPen’s 12 needle or 36 needle head attachment, depending on the treatment area. The entire skin will then be thoroughly micro-needled from 15 to 20 times.

3. The needles will then penetrate into the skin’s upper layers to a depth between .25mm-2.5mm, eventually producing many tiny puncture marks. The appearance of even-patterned minute puncture channels following the procedure is an indication that the treatment has been performed effectively.

How long would the treatment take?

In general, the entire procedure can be completed within 30 minutes. The time would of course depend on the area or part of the body being treated.

Are there any side effects?

Skin dryness, minor flaking, and mild scab formations can manifest in very rare circumstances. The possibility of acquiring any infection is extremely rare.

When would the results of the treatment show?

Skin regeneration may take time and its visible signs may take about 6 to 8 weeks before being evident. Moreover, the regeneration process will also continue to evolve over the succeeding months.

While a single treatment can deliver a noticeable result, a series of 3 to 4 treatments spaced in an approximate of 4 to 6 weeks apart is often recommended to reach optimum results.

About DermaPen

How does the DermaPen work?

The process of micro-needling stimulates collagen induction and increases the effectiveness of topical products by aiding penetration. Tiny channels are created in the epidermis and can reach the dermal level at a 2.0mm setting. Through these channels active ingredients are delivered and absorbed at a deeper level for optimal results. The deliberate trauma to the skin stimulates healing and increases elastin and collagen production. The skin naturally contracts as the channels close and the skin appears tightened and lifted.

What are the benefits?

The DermaPen features 12 needle needle surgical titanium replacement heads, which can reach areas around the lips, nose and eyes with more accuracy and efficacy than a dermal roller.

What areas can be treated?

With the non-ablative micro-needling therapy, the skin on any part of the body such as the face, arms, legs, the neck, and the decollete can also be treated.

Is the treatment painful?

Considered a non-ablative treatment, it is a minimally invasive procedure with little downtime and considered less painful than a dermal roller.
