What Age Do I Start Botox/Dysport?

Plastic surgery of the past was generally addressed long after issues began to arise, leading to much more intense approaches to solve the issue. With the arrival of injectables, non-invasive treatments became common. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, or the ASPS, recently stated that over 7 million patients receive injectables annually, including Botox and Dysport. The experts who complete these injections have seen an increase in patients that are younger in age than in past years. Most experts state that starting Botox and Dysport injections is actually better to start sooner than later. Many patients are uncertain when is the correct time to start injections. Dermatologists have come to the conclusion that starting injection treatments will not harm the patient and can help prevent issues from arriving into the future, that would require more invasive surgeries. These doctors agree that starting injection treatments is fine whenever the grown adult patient deems it necessary. Patients have been known to get treatments in Medical Aesthetic Center. As long as the medical spa has qualified staff, it is legal to provide injectable treatments.

The 20s,30s, and 40s
There are many factors that determine if an injectable treatment is right for a patient. Fine lines and wrinkles may begin to show as early as the mid-20s. Sun damage, smile lines, forehead lines, and other issues are treatable with Botox or Dysport. Patients experiencing issues may seek out treatment in their early to mid-20s. By getting treatment early on, it actually helps in the future alleviating issues.

Many people in their 30s may spend a lot of time frowning and this may cause wrinkle issues on the face. Many people are genetically predisposed to having more wrinkles than their peers. These patients are prime candidates in their 30s. Skin color and the amount of sun exposure play a huge role in the appropriate time to receive an injectable treatment. Overall, when a patient is unhappy with appearances and has unwanted wrinkles, any age beyond the mid-20s is an acceptable time to begin injectable treatments of Botox or Dysport.

Prevent Aging
There are ways to prevent skin damage. The sun is the number one source of skin damage, hence be sure to wear sunscreen and limit the amount of time in the sun. Self-tanner has become very popular over recent years and the tans are looking much more realistic than fake tans of the past. Stopping drinking alcohol and smoking can reduce damage to the skin on the face. Exercise regularly and drink lots of water. Last but not least, apply lotion to the face daily to keep moisturized. Protect your skin from the sun every day in order to maintain its' young appearance longer.

It is a personal choice of everyone to get Botox/Dysport or not in order to fight with signs of aging before they really start to appear. It is better to start taking care of your skin earlier than later to stay young. Contact us today to schedule an appointment.
